You might think they have the cleanest restrooms in all the land, but the folks at roadside convenience store chain Buc-ee’s are set to be recognized for a different superlative. This one is coming from an organization that knows a thing or two about superlatives.
According to Houston Business Journal, the gas station company’s Katy location will be recognized Thursday by Guinness World Records for the longest car wash in the world, thanks to the pitstop’s 255-foot-long tunnel of suds. The monument to automotive cleanliness is part of a 56,000-square-foot store that opened in September.
“Jeff Nadalo, the company's general counsel, said that it will be a 225-foot-long, tunnel-style car wash that will move vehicles on a conveyor belt system. The pricing is still being worked out for the five-minute wash, which will come with a light show inside to quell the boredom of a car wash.
Nadalo said that they are working to get the Guinness Book of World Records to come see it and verify it as the world's largest.”
To celebrate the recognition, the Katy Buc-ee’s will offer free car washes all day Thursday, the Houston Business Journal reports.
Correction: A previous version of this article misstated the length of the car wash.
