Amazon readies huge El Paso County distribution center for opening

Construction of the mammoth Amazon distribution center in far East El Paso County is nearing completion.
No opening date has been set yet, but Amazon already has hired more than 200 people for the 625,000-square-foot fulfillment center, Daniel Martin, an Amazon spokesman, said in an email. Most of the people hired so far are in management, technology and other support positions.
The bulk of the hiring, which will be for several hundred people to do product processing inside the facility, has not yet started, Martin said.
"We'll hire at least another 500 people," he said.
Entry-level jobs will have a starting wage of $15 per hour. Full-time employees also get health insurance and other fringe benefits, Martin said.

Construction of the facility began in July 2020. It's located at 12101 Emerald Pass Ave., near the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Rojas Drive. It's near Interstate 10.
