Tex-Mex restaurant El Arroyo took to social media Saturday morning announcing they will provide 1,250 free family meals for pickup for anyone who needs them. Their goal is to feed 5,000 people.

The challenges of 2020 aren't stopping Tex-Mex restaurant El Arroyo from spreading holiday cheer.

The restaurant announced on their social media that it'll give out 1,250 free family meals for pickup at its location at 1624 W. Fifth St. starting at noon on Saturday, Dec. 26.

"Today we try to spread smiles in a different way than usual," the company said in their announcement. "Lots of people are in need and we're on federal unemployment and relief money, including service industry, entertainment industry and all kinds of people with personal needs that have prevented them from earning an income during the pandemic. Since the government didn't act we are hoping to provide some help for those in need."

Their goal is to feed 5,000 people. The local favorite also said anyone looking to help out those in the service industry in Texas can make a donation to the Texas Restaurant Relief Fund by texting TRRF to 31996.
