X Games Austin 2016 is taking place June 2-5 at COTA

X Games is returning to Austin for its third and final year at the Circuit of the Americas, from June 2- 5, 2016. The event will bring an all-encompassing youth cultural experience to ATX, including world-class action sports competitions, musical performances, interactive festivals and more.

“There’s going to be some really exciting stuff,” said Tim Reed, Vice President of X Games. “This year, we’re hosting a Women’s Skate Park event. We did it once in Barcelona, but this will be the first time we’ve had one in the US.”

Invited athletes for this year’s X Games include Nyjah Huston (Davis, California), winner of the past six X Games Skateboard Street competitions in which he has competed, and Morgan Wade (Tyler, Texas), a seven-time X Games medalist who won gold in Big Air Doubles and silver in BMX Big Air at X Games Austin 2015. The list also includes defending X Games Austin Skateboard Park gold medalist Curren Caples (Ventura, California), Ronnie Renner (Tampa, Florida), the most decorated Moto X Step Up athlete, who holds the height record of 47 feet, and Kyle Baldock (Gold Coast, Australia), the first BMX rider to win two gold in the same X Games event since 2006.

Other big names on the invited athletes list include Garrett Reynolds (Toms River, New Jersey), an eight-time X Games medalist who has won seven of the eight BMX Street competitions at X Games, and Tom Schaar (Cardiff, California), a five-time X Games medalist by the age of 15, who won double bronze at X Games Austin 2015 in Big Air Doubles and Skateboard Big Air. Also on the list are Pamela Rosa (Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil), just 16 years old, who won her first X Games gold medal at the recent X Games Oslo Women’s Skateboard Street event and won back-to-back X Games Austin silver medals prior to winning gold in Oslo, and Tom Pages (Biarritz, France), the defending X Games Moto X QuarterPipe gold medalist.

Also on the agenda is a special Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick competition in honor and memory of the X Games and BMX legend. This competition celebrating Mirra’s life and legacy will take place on Saturday, June 4, and the winner will be awarded the Mirra Golden Pedal and prize money. Admittance to this competition will be available to X Games Austin ticket holders that day, on a first come-first serve basis.  Musical performances set for X Games 2016 include headliners blink-182 and Bay-area rapper G-Eazy, most recently known for the smash single "Me, Myself, and I" (feat. Bebe Rexha), along with hip hop artist Logic, who’s finding success with his sophomore album, The Incredible True Story, and pop punk band All Time Low. With tons of action and great live music, X-Games 2016 is sure to be a great time for fans in Austin.

“I think the fans in Austin have always been great,” said Reed. “There’s just a music vibe and a culture within Austin that is pretty seamless when it comes to what X Games is about, and it’s always felt really good. It just makes it a really nice place to host and produce the X-Games.”

General admission tickets start at $29 with VIP, one-day and three-day experiences, and music options offered.  All tickets will also include access to festival villages, offering entertainment and interactive activities for the whole family, including skate and BMX interactive parks, athlete autograph sessions, sports games, gaming, music, food and retail offerings and more.
