'Never had a bad meal there': Flowood restaurant offers creative take on seafood, steaks, pasta

It’s not every day that I provide restaurant recommendations with the “I’ve never had a bad meal there” disclaimer. But I can truthfully say those words about Flowood’s Table 100.

Table 100's creative take on seafood, steaks and pasta, among many other items, has put the restaurant on Mississippi’s cuisine map and for good reasons. It’s a favorite dining spot of area residents and also appeals to almost everyone that stops by looking for a memorable meal.

I usually meet friends at Table 100 for lunch. More often than not, my eyes go straight for the house wedge salad ($11) on the menu. In fact, it could suffice as a meal if you’re so inclined. A crisp tower of lettuce is topped with tomatoes, radishes, eggs, smoked bacon, green onions and bleu cheese dressing. Other salads included smoked chicken and apple ($14), Caesar ($6.50), and Cobb ($14).

A serving of French onion soup ($8) or duck and sausage gumbo ($7) is the perfect accompaniment to a fresh salad.

Daily lunch specials

A sample of lunch entrees include fried gulf shrimp ($16), shrimp and grits ($15/$25), shrimp pasta ($17) and tenderloin filet ($29). Each of these dishes and a few others on the menu are served with complimentary sides.

Daily lunch specials rotate throughout the week and include sweet tea brined smoked and fried chicken, bourbon braised beef and rice, fried catfish and meatloaf. Each entrée comes with a side dish and beverage.

Smaller bites perfect for sharing while you wait for your meal include crab claws, deviled eggs, southern snack board and tuna crude.

Burgers and sandwiches are offered and include the Table 100 burger ($14), French dip ($14) and smoked turkey panini ($11).

Seafood and steaks

For dinner, many of the lunch items are offered along with an expanded list of seafood and steaks.

Pan seared redfish ($28) is a crowd favorite, along with seared Atlantic salmon ($25). Beef selections include New York strip ($47), braised beef short ribs ($30), coffee rubbed duck breast ($34) and smoked beef brisket ($19).

As a special treat, specialty dishes are often served throughout the year, adding to the overall excellent rating Table 100 routinely garners from the state's “best of” lists, regular diners and first-time visitors.

The perfect ending to a Table 100 meal is a delicious dessert, ranging from bananas Foster to brownies to crème brulee ($8 range).

Looking for a sumptuous brunch on the weekends? Table 100 should be on your list. Favorites like crab cake Benedict ($17), brisket and egg melt ($14) and buttermilk pecan waffle ($10 range with toppings) can be enjoyed along with many regular menu items.
