This SXSW event might be the ultimate puppy party
There are myriad South by Southwest parties to choose from every year, but when the festival returns in March, dog lovers will want to make sure they save room in their schedules for the fifth annual Puppy Party.
Three canine-loving companies — Bumble, PrideBites and Tito's Handmade Vodka — have joined forces to produce the party on St. Patrick's Day. At the four-hour fiesta benefiting Austin Pets Alive, your well-behaved leashed pups are welcome, especially if they come dressed in green in celebration of everyone's favorite Irish holiday.
The Puppy Party will have doggy photo booths, St. Patrick's Day surprises, fun drawings and raffles, and complimentary dog snack samples from the Austin-based Grocery Pup. But the main purpose of the party is to help find homes for the adoptable dogs that Austin Pets Alive will have on-site. Give them some love and cuddles while you're there — and maybe even a forever home afterward. At last year's bash, the five featured shelter pups were all adopted, according to Tito's.
If you show the Bumble app on your phone at the door, you can get a complimentary Tito's drink. (Only a limited number of drink tickets are available, however.) You must be 21 and up to attend.
The 5th annual Puppy Party runs from 12 to 4 p.m. on March 17 at Lustre Pearl's Rainey Street location, 94 Rainey St. It's free to attend, but register in advance at an Eventbrite link.
