Barton Springs Mill has grown significantly since we first wrote about James Brown’s pioneering company in 2017, including a recent move to a new location at 16604 Fitzhugh Road in Dripping Springs on the campus of Treaty Oak Distillery.

But the biggest change for Austin shoppers is that customers at Central Market can now buy the company’s heirloom grains and corn products in the bulk section. Owner James Brown continues to sell heirloom rice and freshly milled flour and cornmeal at local farmers markets, but you can also swing by either the north or south location of Central Market to shop from a dozen selections, including blue corn grits, Einkorn wheat berries, organic cornmeal, grits and polenta, and TAM “00” flour for pasta and pizza, an all-purpose flour that is a mix of Rouge de Bordeaux and Sonora wheat.

You can buy an even wider variety of products directly from the mill, which is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. Salt & Time, Confituras and Sour Duck also all carry some Barton Springs products. For more info, go to
