We've known for a few weeks that esteemed cookbook author Diana Kennedy is coming to Austin next week for an event at Fonda San Miguel, but yesterday, the library announced a free event with her at noon on May 7 at the Central Library downtown, 710 W. César Chávez St.

Kennedy, who recently donated her cookbook archive to the University of Texas at San Antonio, will share stories from more than 50 years of traveling and cooking throughout Mexico. She'll be in conversation with Amalia Rodriguez-Mendoza, who was Travis County's first Hispanic district clerk in the 1990s. The event is free and open to the public.
