Israeli street food concept opening at Fareground

Chef Berty Richter of food truck Hummus Among Us has partnered with the Emmer & Rye team to create TLV, an Israeli street food concept that will open on March 7 in the Fareground food hall downtown (111 Congress Ave.) The concept's name is the same as the airport code for the Tel Aviv airport. 

The food court installation will take the place of Easy Tiger, which is leaving Fareground, and serve hummus plates, falafel, roasted cauliflower, Israeli donuts, homemade pickles, Israeli pita from Angel Bakeries and more.

“Israel became a home to many people and different religions from all over the world. Israeli food to me is a reflection of the blend of all these cultures and cuisines that settled in Israel added to the native cuisine that, like all countries in that region, was based on the Ottoman and Persian cuisines,” Richter said. “My personal culinary roots can be traced to my Sephardic side of the family, which originated in Spain many generations ago and then Italy, Greece, and Turkey, and eventually ending up in Israel.”

TLV, which joins concepts such as Contigo, Dai Due Taqueria and the Emmer & Rye-owned Henbit, will be open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.on Saturday and Sunday.
