ATX Cocina, a new restaurant downtown, comes from the minds of two of Austin’s most prominent restaurateurs — the folks behind Z’Tejas, Eddie V’s, Hopdoddy and Red Ash — and capitalizes on the modern Mexican food trend.

The keys to this modern movement are precision, respect and creative reimagining of Mexican ingredients. Does ATX Cocina — with dishes like tomahawk pork pibil, barbacoa beef short rib and a $100 margarita — hit the mark or simply offer a well-packaged concept?
