Openings/closings: Mettle opens, Qui sets opening date

Open: Mettle, the first restaurant from noted Rainey Street bar owner Bridget Dunlap, with former Olivia chef Andrew Francisco at the helm in the kitchen. The East Austin bistro, which takes culinary cues from French, Asian and modern American cuisine, is open at 507 Calles St. for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday. 512-328-3935,

Opening Thursday: Chick-fil-A, the newest Austin location of the popular fast food chain at 503 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., the former home of Gatti’s Pizza.

Opening Friday: Eden East, an outdoor restaurant at Springdale Farm from Hillside Farmacy chef Sonya Cote, whose menu is built around whatever ingredients are available locally. The restaurant is open for reservations only from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays starting this weekend, and Cote will soon add Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Opening soon: Third Base Sports Bar, the fourth area location of the popular sports bar restaurant at 13301 U.S. 183, near the intersection of Anderson Mill and Research Boulevard. 512-257-2273,

Opening soon: Qui, the highly anticipated flagship restaurant from “Top Chef” winnner and 2012 James Beard awardee Paul Qui, is scheduled to open June 20 at 1600 E. Sixth St. The restaurant will serve dinner Monday-Saturday, with an initial seasonal menu featuring items such as salmon butter with traditional caviar accoutrements, rabbit seven ways and côte du bœuf.
