P. Terry’s to open seventh location later this month

Matthew Odam

Popular Austin burger stand and drive-thru P. Terry’s will open its seventh location, at 12301 N. MoPac Blvd., by the end of the month. The new location, designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture and “and inspired by mid-century car culture,” will be the largest P. Terry’s to date, featuring two drive-thru lanes and a 1,000 square-foot outdoor area. Owner Patrick Terry says he plans to have 12 Austin-area locations open by the end of 2015. The eighth store, which Terry plans to open before the end of the year, will be located at 12018 Research Blvd. (just a few doors down from Catfish Parlour), with a winter 2014 opening date eyed for store #9 on Burnet Road.

It will be interesting to see how California transplant In-N-Out Burger (along Interstate 35 near Airport Boulevard) will fare in a town that shows such enthusiasm for locally owned joints.
