Matthew Odam

Odd Duck opens Thursday at 5 p.m. at 1201 S. Lamar Blvd. The restaurant from farm-to-table advocate chef Bryce Gilmore is a brick-and-mortar interpretation of the trailer that brought acclaim to the Barley Swine chef several years ago. The restaurant will initially be open only for dinner but plans to introduce lunch hours in the coming weeks. They will begin taking reservations on Monday.

Due Forni Pizza & Wine of Las Vegas opens Thursday in the Littlefield Building at Sixth Street and Congress Avenue. The restaurant, founded by chef Carlos Buscaglia and University of Texas alumnus Alex Taylor, opened its first location in Las Vegas in 2011.

The restaurant serves Roman and Neapolitan pizzas, using two separate Napolitano ovens, hence the name. That means one group of pies with a thicker, fluffier edge and another with thin, crispy crust. Due Forni also serves entrees like scallops, rack of lamb, duck, and pastas.

Taylor, who is returning to Austin with his family to run the restaurant, has served as food and beverage director at Wynn Resorts’ Encore and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Buscaglia will oversee the culinary operations in Las Vegas and Austin, with Sean Zirkle working as executive chef.

Due Forni is open 11 am to 10 p.m.,Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 am to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
