Omelettry moving to Airport Boulevard

Matthew Odam

Iconic Austin restaurant the Omelettry has found a new place to crack its eggs.

The restaurant, owned and run by father and son Kenny and Jesse Carpenter, has signed a lease at 4631 Airport Boulevard, in the strip mall between In-N-Out burger and I Luv Video.

The Carpenters plan to move the restaurant from its 4811 Burner Rd. location, where is has been in business since 1978, this fall.

The new location at the Concorde Center will provide more kitchen space, more booths, and substantially more parking, the Carpenters said.

“We were urban pioneers when we first opened the Omelettry in 1978,” Kenny Carpenter said. “Burnet Road was full of shuttered businesses and our building had seen a number of failed restaurants before we got there. So we’ll be urban pioneers again on Airport. We see great potential there - that area is so underserved.”

Don’t expect many changes at the Omelettry with the exception of the fact the restaurant will now accept credit cards.

The Omelettry, which is moving after being unable to negotiate a new lease, will continue to operate on Burnet Road until the new space is ready.
