Cooper’s barbecue of Llano coming to downtown Austin

Matthew Odam

The smoking hot Austin barbecue scene looks set to welcome another competitor. Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que of Llano will open shop at 217 Congress Ave. in the space of the old Copa, according to 217 Congress’ Facebook page.

“We are proud to announce that 217 Congress will be home to the newest Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que!

Featuring authentic Texas BBQ, live music and a full bar on Congress Avenue, Cooper’s BBQ Austin will open its doors in the fall of 2014.”

Cooper’s has been serving barbecue out west in Llano since 1963, and is often named in lists of the best barbecue in Texas. They opened a New Braunfels location in 2008.
