Wine & Food Foundation of Texas donates $50,000 to four nonprofits
The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas has announced plans to distribute more than $50,000 to four Texas-based, nonprofit organizations. The financial support furthers the organization’s mission to better the health and well-being in Texas communities. The recipients include Austin Food for Life, an organization focusing on health-care solutions for service workers; the Sustainable Food Center; the Texas A&M AgriLife Viticulture & Fruit Lab in Fredericksburg; and the Texas Sommelier Association, which promotes public awareness of wine service standards and outlines paths for wine education.
The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas distributed $40,000 in the first half of the year, and over the past years has given approximately $2 million to charitable and nonprofit organizations.
“The Foundation is delighted to help financially support and partner with other charities and nonprofits whose missions promote health and education in the world of food and wine,” WFFT board president Mark Shilling said. “The organizations we’ve selected for the remainder of this year offer programs and services that benefit Texas families, farmers, restaurant employees, sommeliers, vineyard owners and winemakers.”
