Juan Martinez will serve as the executive chef at the forthcoming JW Marriott in downtown Austin, overseeing the hotel’s three in-house restaurants, as well as the all culinary operations. The three restaurants will include a regional Italian restaurant, a restaurant focused on Texas cuisine, and a restaurant that will use a walk-up window a la a food truck to service Congress Avenue.

A 15-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Martinez most recently spent three years as the executive chef of the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Florida. He has also worked at Marriott properties in Shanghai and the Woodlands, and in 2010 was named Best Restaurant Chef by Orlando Magazine. The Marriott, which will be the largest in Austin, is scheduled to open in February on Congress Avenue between Second and Third streets.
