East Side King expands to the Red River District today, as it officially opens a food truck at 900 Red River St. at Cheer Up Charlies, a bar and performance venue that has become a centerpiece of Austin’s LGBT community. The track will operate daily from 5 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., serving an assortment of hot dogs and sandwiches not found at other ESK locations.

Offerings include a Moto dog ($6.50), a Berkshire hot dog topped with bonito; a fried fish sandwich with crispy panang curry ($7.50); a fried shrimp ($9) and beef pho po-boys ($9), as well as ESK staples like beet home fries ($7) and Brussels sprouts salad ($7).

This is the third truck location (joining East Sixth Street spots at Liberty and Wonderland, which is in the old Cheer Up Charlies), and there are brick-and-mortar locations of the operation co-founded by former Uchi and Uchiko chefs Paul Qui and Moto Utsunomiya at Hole in the Wall and on South Lamar Boulevard.
