Players restaurant will permanently close at the end of November
In 2012 the University of Texas purchased the campus-area land on which sits Players restaurant sits. (Read this 2012 Statesman story for details on the $4 million purchase.) At the time, the exact future of the restaurant was undetermined, but this May the owners received word that UT was ready to take over the land. Players will close permanently on November 30, according to the Daily Texan. As the Daily Texan reports, the closing of the restaurant will make way for the Robert B. Rowling Hall, “a separate graduate student building for the McCombs School of Business.”
The Daily Texan also reports the Players’ owners were given $738,773.27 “as compensation for the early termination date.” Head to the Daily Texan’s site for more details about the sale and the future of the site owned by UT.
