Now open: Kent Black’s Barbecue in San Marcos

Another member of the Black family of Lockhart has struck out on his own and opened a barbecue restaurant. Kent Black, who is the pitmaster at the Lockhart restaurant owned by his parents, opened Kent Black’s Barbecue at 500 Hull St. in San Marcos. Kent Black’s nephews, Mark and Michael, opened Terry Black’s Barbecue on Barton Springs Road earlier this year. Neither of those restaurants is affiliated with the Lockhart original, though Kent Black plans to open a Black’s Barbecue on Guadalupe Street later this year. Kent Black’s Barbecue is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers a full bar.
