Fit Folks: Ginny Thompson, 45

Staff Writer
Austin 360

I used to think that once I got to my goal weight, perhaps I'd submit my myself as a "Fit Folk." At 40 years old and just under 350 pounds, I made every effort not to exercise! But now, down 185 pounds, I am a fitness fanatic! I have become hooked on seeing what I can push my body (and my mind) to accomplish. I may not look like a Fit Folk at first glance, but I get activity in every day, from swimming, jogging, walking and weight lifting. Fitness improves my mood and has changed my outlook on life. I no longer accept anything close to "I can't" from myself, simply "I'll give it a try!" My motivation? To inspire others who, like me, never believed it was possible to like exercise, to just start and watch the transformation.

We're looking for Central Texans who keep fit with interesting activities. Tell us — in 100 words or fewer — about yours. If you have a photograph, include that as well.
