Fireworks should be a go this Independence Day

Fireworks were hard to find across Central Texas last Fourth of July, but the skies should be more sparkly tonight. Here are some Independence Day celebrations that are scheduled to include fireworks. Information was correct at press time, but, as our hot, dry weather continues, it's a good idea to check the events' websites for any changes before you head out.

Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks. The annual concert features patriotic music and live cannon fire. 8:30 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Free. Auditorium Shores at the Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive. 441-9015, www.austinsymphony.org . Live broadcast begins at 9:30 p.m. on 98.9 FM.

July 4th Frontier Days Celebration. Sertoma parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Round Rock. Frontier Days festival opens at noon with carnival rides, arts and crafts vendors, fireworks and music by the Austin Symphonic Band. Free. Fourth of July in Fredericksburg. Events get under way at 10 a.m. and stretch into the evening. Daytime activities include the Community Parade along Main Street, Becker Vineyards' July 4th Chili Cook-off, Pedernales Cellars' Kite Festival and Luckenbach's Fourth of July Celebration. Fireworks display at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park begins around 9:30 p.m. www.VisitFredericksburg TX.com .

July 4 Celebration at San Gabriel Park. A July 4th Hometown Parade in San Gabriel Park begins at 11 a.m. at the Morrow Street low-water crossing and ends at the gazebo. A festival area at San Gabriel Park opens at 11 a.m. with arts and crafts vendors, 20 food vendors, a petting zoo, train rides, children’s rides, and face painting. A variety of musical acts will perform throughout the afternoon. Before the fireworks at 9:30 p.m., Heather Dillard and Taylor Weaver will sing the national anthem. http://bit.ly/KYNlrI

Independence Day Celebration Fireworks Show. The City of Kyle will be celebrating the 4th of July with a fireworks show launched from the driving range at Plum Creek Golf Course (PCGC). There is a free fireworks pre-show with April Hall Band at the clubhouse from 6 to 9 p.m. Parking at the golf course is $3 and no outside food or beverages will be allowed on the PCGC property, but food and drink will be available for purchase in the clubhouse.
