Splish splash! The City of Austin's splash pads open this weekend

Melissa Martinez

With highs climbing into the upper 80s and the chance for rain on the decline, the opening of the City of Austin’s 10 splash pads Saturday will bring relief to sweaty kids all over town.

Unlike letting your kids splash through your sprinkler system, the splash pads won’t set you back a dime, and the one in Round Rock even recirculates and filters its own water source to be conservation friendly to our drought-prone state. Hours for City of Austin splash pads are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sept. 9, with the exception of the Chestnut Splash Pad, which doesn’t open until 11 a.m.

If you’re looking for a summer playtime experience with a bit more depth, a few public pools are also open, and more will open during the first week of June. Check the City of Austin’s pool schedule for more details about your neighborhood pool.
