Joe Swift of Texarkana rolled into town for last year's Republic of Texas Biker Rally.

That rumbling you hear is not another spring storm — it's the sound of thousands of motorcycles entering the Austin city limits. Yes, the Republic of Texas Biker Rally rolls Thursday, June 10, and as usual it will include tons of leather, music, a parade, bikes and plenty of other entertainment.

The details: The rally runs through Saturday, June 12; most of the main events and entertainment are at the Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Lane.

Parade: The traditional Congress Avenue bike parade is Friday, June 11. Staging begins at 7 p.m.; bikes leave the rally grounds at 7:30 p.m. The parade ends at the Capitol and the Congress Avenue party begins. (Note: Some downtown streets will be closed beginning at 6 p.m.)

Music: Live performances start during the day and go on at the Paradise and Cowboy bars, as well as the 'Thunderdome,' all at the expo center. The nightly outdoor headliners are Blue Oyster Cult (Thursday, June 10); Blood, Sweat and Tears (Friday, June 11); and Bret Michaels (Saturday, June 12).

And more: Vendors, bike ride-ins, giveaways, Hill Country rides, Gallagher, the famous 'Wall of Death,' a tattoo expo ... it's a packed weekend.

Tickets, schedule, etc.: Get all the details at the website, www.rotrally.com, or call the rally hotline, 252-9768.
