Fit Folks: Marvin Jansen, 61
I run to stay fit. I run 5K, 10K, half-marathon and full marathon events. I train with Gilbert's Gazelles and Pure Austin.
I run for the freedom. I choose the route, I choose the distance, and no one tells me what to do (with the exception of some good running tips from my coaches). I make decisions that impact my physical, emotional and spiritual health.
I have overcome heart disease to do what I want. My early life was not focused on health and wellbeing. I began to run in 1985 after I took my last alcoholic drink and smoked my last cigarette. I believe humans can do what they choose to do.
My life is fun, joyful and healthy. I run to stay fit!
