The Outsiders: Laurie Graham Lambert

As a three-time member of the U.S. National Snowshoe Team, I've gotten to race at what are considered to be the premiere mountain destinations all over North America and Europe. Hands down, my absolute favorite place in the world is Red River, N.M. I trail run along trout streams, waterfalls and alpine lakes in the summertime and snowshoe run on world-class trails in the wintertime. The forests are unspeakably beautiful, daringly rugged and refreshingly unspoiled. Every season is exquisite there.

Each week in Venture Out, we feature Central Texans who love the outdoors. They've told us about their favorite outdoor locations and what they love to do there. We'd love to hear from you. Tell us — in 100 words or fewer — what your favorite outdoor place is and what you do there. If you have a photograph, include that as well. Send your name, age and contact information to Kathy Blackwell, Austin American-Statesman, 305 S. Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78704, or email it to kblackwell@statesman.com.
