I completed my first century ride (100 miles) when I was 12 and really enjoy bike touring by myself. In college, I toured alone in the Pacific Northwest, Rockies, New Zealand and California. I've ridden across the United States three times solo, the most recent in 2007 along Route 66, then to Virginia Beach and Washington, D.C., fully loaded, in just 50 days.

In June, I rode 900 miles up the Sierras and U.S. 395 from San Diego to Yosemite and the Gold Country, with some 60,000 feet of climbing. Future tours may include the parks and monuments of Utah. I also ride with the Austin Cycling Association from my home in Pflugerville. My journals are at www.crazyguyonabike.com.
