Fit Folks: Mike, 64, and Cathi, 60, Mojica

My wife Cathi and I have been lake surfing since 1999. We got into the sport by accident. After my three children would finish a wakeboard set, they would remove the bindings and ask me (the designated boat driver) to pull them using the board without bindings. They got so good and it looked like so much fun that my wife and I started trying it. Then the craze hit and surfboard manufactures started designing boards specifically for wake surfing. It's a great way to stay in shape. We live on Lake Travis and have enjoyed surf sets since moving here from Dallas 10 years ago. We have all of our lake friends surfing, too. When friends come in from out of town, the first thing they ask us to do is teach them how to surf. It's habit forming.
We're looking for Central Texans who keep fit with interesting activities. Tell us — in 100 words or fewer — about yours. If you have a photograph, include that as well. Send your name, age and contact information to Pam LeBlanc, Austin American-Statesman, 305 S. Congress Ave., Austin TX 78704 or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
