Crazy Crab restaurant opens at Fountains at Farah

Crazy Crab, a Michigan-based franchise, opened Aug. 13 at the Fountains at Farah, in the former Bricktown Tap House location.

The franchise is owned by Mark Liu and Kelly Feng, who have eight locations in Michigan, with plans for two more. The franchise began in December 2019 and flourished during the pandemic of 2020 with to-go service.

Crazy Crab opened Aug. 13 at the Fountains at Farah. The restaurant is located between Grimaldi's, Chuy's and Menchies.

La Havana restaurant will bring Cuban culture, flavor to Canutillo

A new restaurant in Canutillo might make diners feel like they have been transferred to Little Havana.

The restaurant, La Havana, is coming together with relaxing cool green and blue hues, island-themed murals, lush green plants and dining booths that will surround a dance floor, ideal for salsa dancing. The menu naturally will be Cuban food and the eatery also will have a bar with 20 local crafts, and a relaxing cigar lounge with its own humidor.

The bar at La Havana will serve a variety of drinks including a signature cocktail, a prickly pear mojito.

Noodles & Company coming to El Paso, Las Cruces

A noodles franchise, Noodles & Company, is coming to El Paso and New Mexico, with plans for four new restaurants.

Las Cruces businessman Carlos Hill, president of Tsunami Enterprises LLC, plans to open the restaurants in the next three years, with the first one opening by fall 2022.

New crepe and waffle dessert place opens

Sweet District Dessert Lounge, a new place that focuses on crepe and waffle desserts, has opened on the East Side.

The dessert business is connected to a second business, Urban Gyros, owned by El Paso businessman Mohamed Panjawani. The eateries are in a shopping strip at 1551 N. Zaragoza Road.

The Cookies and Cream crepe features Oreo pieces and is drizzled with dark and white chocolate. Ice cream can be added to the dessert.

Souper Salad to reopen with new menu options

A Souper Salad will reopen with a new owner on the East Side with an expanded menu that includes sandwiches, wraps and online ordering.

The popular salad bar franchise will have its grand reopening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at 8900 Viscount Blvd. A previous Souper Salad closed in March 2020.

El Paso's Desert Oak Barbecue is among the best

Texas Monthly just declared the 50 best BBQ joints for 2021 and El Paso's Desert Oak Barbecue got a nod.

The magazine, which has previously highlighted the Eastside eatery, does point out some great qualities of Desert Oak at 1320 N. Zaragoza Road.
