'Hamilton' cancellation email is a hoax

Beware "Hamilton" ticket-holders: The show is going on.

A hoax email that mimicked an email blast sent from the Austin American-Statesman about Broadway hit "Hamilton" claimed that opening night of the show's national tour in Austin had been canceled. One clue that it's a lie: The subject line says the Tuesday, May 6, opening has been canceled (it opens tonight, May 28). The body of the email claims the cancellation is because lead actor Joseph Morales is sick and his understudy is not in Austin.

All untrue and not created or sent by the Statesman.

Representatives from Texas Performing Arts say they have been fielding calls Tuesday from ticket-holders who received the hoax email.
