The South by Southwest Conference and Festival is scheduled to take place March 13-22 and on Tuesday, festival organizers put out a call for volunteers. Festival volunteers fill a variety of roles throughout the event and, with enough hours, they can earn conference and festival badges.

This year festival organizers have upgraded their volunteer registration system so volunteers can pick their crew, and select volunteer shifts online at volunteer.sxsw.com/register.

The sign up is open now and festival organizers encourage volunteers to sign up sooner rather than later as some crew fill quickly.

There will also be an informal volunteer fair on Sunday, January 26 in Ballroom A of the Austin Convention Center, from noon to 6 p.m.

Depending on which conference you are trying to attend, expect to commit 24-64 hours to earn your badge.

SXSW Music, Film and Interactive badges are currently available on the site for $1145. Platinum passes that allow access to all events are available for $1475.
