Luck Reunion cancels 2020 event amid coronavirus concerns
Luck Reunion, the all-day concert on Willie Nelson’s ranch in Spicewood that has been one of the most high-profile gatherings during South by Southwest week for the past few years, announced Thursday that its planned March 19 event has been canceled, per orders from Travis County officials.
Luck organizers had announced late Tuesday via social media that the county had given them permission to continue with plans for the annual bash, which was scheduled to feature performances by Willie Nelson, Lukas & Nelson & Promise of the Real, Lucinda Williams, Kris Kristofferson and dozens of others.
But rapid shifts over the past two days in nationwide response to coronavirus concerns apparently led to a change in plans for Luck as well. A statement from Luck organizers noted that the county’s order was for the event to be rescheduled, but it appears organizers are focusing on 2021 rather than trying to reschedule this year’s event.
Here’s text from the official statement:
“We are devastated to announce that today we were notified by Travis County officials that Luck Reunion 2020 must be rescheduled. We agree with the decision and stand with the county in taking all precautions to protect your health and safety first.
We plan to introduce additional programming and are in the process of deciding how to best proceed. We will honor any tickets purchased this year for what we anticipate will be a fantastic 2021 Luck Reunion.
This is a blow to our business, workers, community of artists, sponsors, and most all you, our loyal friends and fans.
We will pick up the pieces together and continue to support local businesses in our shared commitment to good music and art.

Thank you for all your support and understanding. We're not done yet.“
