Public memorial for Willie Nelson drummer Paul English set for March 3 in Fort Worth
An open-to-the public “Celebration of Life” for Willie Nelson drummer Paul English is set for 2 p.m. on March 3 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, the venue announced Thursday.
English, who lived in the Dallas area, died Feb. 11 at age 87.
He had deep roots in Forth Worth. “He grew up on the North Side and as a youngster boxed in the Golden Gloves and played trumpet in the Fort Worth Salvation Army band,” noted the venue’s press release about the memorial event. “After graduating from Fort Worth Polytechnic High School, he became a regular at some of (Fort Worth’s) more infamous establishments in Hell's Half Acre, along Jacksboro Highway and the Fort Worth Stockyards.”
