On Tuesday, local guitar great Gary Clark Jr. stopped by the set of the live finale for the NBC singing competition, “The Voice,” to join competitor Ricky Duran on a duet of Clark’s gorgeous ode to parental love, “Pearl Cadillac.”

Duran, who grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, but recently moved to Austin, placed second in the competition.

Jake Hoot, a Corpus Christi native who now lives in Tennessee, won the competition with booming country music swagger.

Rose Short, an electrifying gospel and soul singer from Killeen, placed fourth in the live finale. So all around, it was a good night for Texas.
