The Head and the Heart, Santana, Kirk Franklin and more music in Austin this week

Here's what's happening in the Live Music Capital of the World this week.

Friday: 5th of July at Yeti Flagship. If you're taking not only Independence Day off but also the next day, this free-admission afternoon soiree might be right up your alley. Running from noon to 5 p.m., the party features live music from three top-notch Austin bands: Mobley at 3:30 p.m., Los Coast at 2:15 p.m. and the Peterson Brothers at 1 p.m. Food and beverages aren't free, but they feature similarly high-quality local fare, with drink specials from Nine Banded Whiskey and barbecue from Leroy & Lewis. 220 S. Congress Ave. — P.B.

Saturday: Crushable Fest at Oasis Brewing Company. The storied restaurant overlooking Lake Travis has grown into a multifaceted complex in recent years, with a brewpub, boutique stores (including the excellent Groover’s Paradise record shop) and more. The headliners of this all-day event are James McMurtry, Israel Nash and John Fullbright, but the lineup features more than two dozen local and regional acts on three stages, including Christian Bland & the Revelators, Scott Danbom, Altamesa, Isaac Hoskins, Megan Storie and DJ Mixer Rogers. $25. Doors at noon. 6550 Comanche Trail. — P.B.

Saturday: Cuco at Emo’s. Last year was tough for the 20-year-old Spanglish pop breakout, whose meteoric rise was interrupted by an accident that forced him to cancel the second weekend of Austin City Limits Music Festival. But he was back in action early this year, signing a seven-figure deal with Interscope and charming South by Southwest audiences with his vaguely psychedelic daydreams. After the first show sold out swiftly, promoters added a second, earlier show at Emo’s. Triathalon and Victor Internet open both shows. 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. doors. $25. 2015 E. Riverside Drive. — D.S.S.

Monday: Blue Monday at Antone’s. Almost all of this week’s shows at Antone’s are part of the club’s extensive 44th anniversary celebration. But we’re casting the spotlight on this weekly gig helmed by guitar master Derek O’Brien, because it regularly features some of the top classic blues players in town. If you want to get a sense of what the Antone’s vibe has really been all about for four-plus decades, this is a great place to start. If you visit the club from July 6 to July 13, take a closer look at the walls, which will feature a special batch of photos from the 1969 Ann Arbor Blues Festival in Michigan. There are great shots of Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker, Howlin' Wolf, a 19-year-old Bonnie Raitt and more. $10. 6:30 p.m. 305 E. Fifth St. — P.B.

Tuesday: Santana, Doobie Brothers at Austin360 Amphitheater. For Carlos Santana, 2019 is a big year to look back at career highlights. Maybe the most momentous came half a century ago, when he played Woodstock. He’ll be back at that historic fest’s original rural New York site in August on the actual anniversary weekend, but in the meantime, we get him here in Austin for a double bill with fellow classic rockers the Doobie Brothers. The primary focus of Santana’s set will be “Supernatural,” which came out 20 years ago this summer and was by far the biggest-selling album of the band’s career, moving 15 million copies in the U.S. alone. $34-$183. 7 p.m. 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. — P.B.

Tuesday-Wednesday: The Head and the Heart at ACL Live. Veterans of two high-profile ACL Fest experiences in the past five years, the Seattle/Virginia indie-folk-rock ensemble arrives for a two-night stand at the city's showcase music hall this time around. That should provide an ideal opportunity for a deep dive into the recently released "Living Mirage," the band's fourth album in a decade during which they've gradually grown from hot newcomers to a major mainstay in American music. Hippo Campus opens. $40-$64.50. 8 p.m. 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. — P.B.

Wednesday: Posies at Empire Control Room. Pop songwriters Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow stood out when they rose amid the Seattle grunge boom with songs that were gorgeously melodic. But if you’ve ever seen them live, you’ll know they burn as much onstage energy as most of their sludgier peers. They’ll mix old favorites and material they’re working on for their upcoming ninth album on this tour. A. Sinclair and Poly Action open. (The Posies also play a free 4 p.m. in-store set at Waterloo Records.) $17.50. 8 p.m. 606 E. Seventh St. — P.B.

Wednesday: Sound & Cinema series at Long Center Lawn. The second show of a four-part monthly summer series that’s been a local favorite for years has an especially fitting twist. Sound & Cinema regularly pairs popular films with an opening set of music from local acts. This time it will be the slyly named cover band Recovering, who’ll play the soundtrack album to “Guardians of the Galaxy” as a prelude to the film itself. Free. 6 p.m. 701 W. Riverside Drive. — P.B.

Thursday: Kirk Franklin at Paramount Theatre. Thirteen seems to be a lucky number for gospel great Franklin: His new album, “Long Live Love,” is his 13th, and along the way he’s won 13 Grammys. The 49-year-old Fort Worth native has gotten plenty of airtime lately on the BET network, performing at its awards show a couple of weeks ago and returning as host of its gospel competition series, “Sunday Best.” Koryn Hawthorne and comedian Travele Judon open. $25-$63. 8 p.m. 713 Congress Ave. — P.B.
