HAAM Benefit Day is a party with a cause that starts before dawn and goes well past midnight. In 2015, Kevin Russell, aka Shinyribs, led a conga line during his performance for HAAM Benefit Day at the downtown Whole Foods Market. HAAM gives area musicians access to health care. The Health Alliance of Austin Musicians — which helps thousands of local performers get access to medical care — raised more than half a million dollars with last year’s HAAM Benefit Day, counting corporate sponsorships, contributions by participating businesses and the cash showgoers dropped in donation boxes at venues. On this day, more than perhaps any other, Austin lives up to its billing as the Live Music Capital of the World.

This year’s HAAM Benefit Day is Sept. 12 and will feature more than 200 performances across town. Go to mystatesman.com for our hour-by-hour itinerary featuring some of the top options.
