For Cam Biehle, love of music and passion for performing runs as deep as his Texas roots. The Austin, TX-based singer-songwriter is set to play Austin360 Studio Sessions on Thursday, April 20 at 12PM Central in a show sure to entertain. We spoke with Cam about his musical influences, the city of Austin and how it feels playing the Austin360 Studio Sessions stage.

Q: When did you first realize that you were a musician?

A: Probably about five years ago— I’ve always had a passion for it, I had a love for it in high school but I didn’t know I could work up the nerve to do it until a few years go.

Q: How would you describe your music?

A: Fun, energetic and uplifting with a soulful sprinkle. I take a lot from my inspirations growing up, like George Straight, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra. My parents used to always listen to them in the car. Or Michael Jackson. I’m influenced by country music more than any other genre though, absolutely.

Q: Who are your favorite artists to listen to?

A: I love Clay Walker, Jake Owens, Miranda, Don Henley and some of his solo acts. They’ve left a big mark on my musical journey.

Q: As a musician, what do you love most about Austin?

A: I think Austin is the best up-and-coming town for the music industry. It’s starting to explode. It’s nice, being born and raised here, not to have to go far to chase my dream, since this city has built such a name for itself.

Q: What do you enjoy most about performing live?

A: The crowd, one hundred percent. I love seeing them in the building, and that my music is connecting with people— through either good or bad times. I like to make them dance, scream and shout— I like to get the place moving, turn it loose and just bring a show.

Q: How do you feel about playing the Austin360 Studio Sessions stage?

A: I’m incredibly excited. I’ve been to a couple Studio Sessions before and really enjoyed them. I’ll have family there watching, and friends watching all over the state of Texas, and I’m looking forward to getting in there and having a good time with everybody. I’m looking forward to it like crazy.
