With a hat tip to the Oddball Comedy Festival featuring hilarious musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords set to go down this weekend and the recent announcement of the Fun Fun Fun Fest comedy lineup featuring Tenacious D, This Week’s Playlist: Laughable Lyrics is all about the intersection of music and comedy. Some of our selections are obvious. Of course, Weird Al makes an appearance and ‘SNL’ alums The Lonely Island are on there as are the two aforementioned musical comedy groups.

But most of the tracks drawn from the collective mind of Team 360 are not from comedians. They’re just funny songs. We found a wealth of material in the storytelling genres. As such, both country music and hip-hop are heavily represented. From Toby Keith’s “Weed with Willie” to Devin the Dude’s “Doobie Ashtray,” reefer madness is abundant and there are plenty of takes on women and woes.

Technically speaking, Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison” might not be a full-on attempt at a funny song, but with its signature electro-femme-fatale break and the line “Never trust a big butt and a smile,” it fit so well into the weird, er – generous derriere section of the mix we had to run with it. Also, this.

As with most comedy these days, some of these songs run a bit blue. So if you’re offended by explicit language and whatnot, don’t play this list. If not, enjoy!
