Ronnie Laws to headline Austin Jazz Fest at the Backyard

The Austin Jazz Festival debuts Oct. 19 at the Backyard with Houston raised funk saxophonist Ronnie Laws, trumpet player Tom Browne, neo-soul guitarist Anthony David and a supporting cast of such Austin singers and players as Courtney Sanchez, Elias Haslanger, Ephraim Owens, Tje Austin and Pete Rodriguez.

Ronnie Laws was an early member of Earth, Wind & Fire and is best known for the jazz/funk instrumental classic “Always There.” The younger brother of Hubert Laws, he plays flute as well as sax. He’ll be bringing his full band, including sister Debra Laws on vocals.
