Giveaway: The Shouting Matches, Blind Boys of Alabama

The Shouting Matches is the low brow side project of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. An unbuttoned Vernon fronts the trio, belting Midwestern bar rock in a grumbly baritone while old indie rock homies Brian Moen (Peter Wolf Crier) and Phil Cook (Megafaun) throw down guitar licks, bluesy organ strains and drums. Nothing earth-shattering, but the kind of good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll that’s best chased with beer.

For their official ACL Fest Late show the Shouting Matches are joined by their longtime musical heroes, gospel greats The Blind Boys of Alabama. The Blind Boys have a new album out produced by Vernon so this show should be a fantastic night of collaboration between the two acts. The show takes place at Stubb’s on Wednesday, Oct. 9. If you’d like to be our guest at the show email us the answer to this Justin Vernon trivia question before Tuesday, Oct. 8 at noon:

Who played Justin Vernon in a much-applauded ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch that involved a lullaby for Beyonce’s babe Blue Ivy?

One winner will be selected at random from the correct responses we receive. The winner will receive a pair of guest list spots to the show at Stubb’s BBQ on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The winner will be notified by email by Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. Non-winning participants will not be notified.
