The Nashville-based DJ brought Dirty South hip-hop and clean electronica beats together in a high-energy ACL show that had his dedicated fan base crowdsurfing and moshing. “Be careful, this isn’t a Slipknot show,” Wick-It The Instigator said.

Although he had the crowd hanging on every beat, the BMI stage wasn’t the best location. Sandwiched between the Bud Light stage and the AMD stage, music from both stages (I think the Samsung stage too) bled into Wick-It’s set.

That didn’t stop the party, though. DJ Wick-It kept surprising the crowd, first with his remix of Johnny Cash’s “Walk the Line” then later whipping out his own guitar, playing over electronic beats. DJ Wick-It intensified the ACL party, taking his playlist from Van Halen’s “Jump” to House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” which made the crowd go wild.

But the BMI stage’s location once again soured the crowd experience when a foul smell overpowered the show, at least for folks in the back. Unfortunately, this caused a mass exodus of the crowd.

Wick-It ended strong, though, with some Wu-Tang Clan and then wrapped it up with some rhyming of his own.
