In 50 words or less: On their second album without Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines, sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire’s have lightened up considerably. “Amelita,” released earlier this year, feels a bit less substantial than the pair’s 2010 self-titled debut, but tracks like “Sunshine” and “The Best Is Yet to Come” are going to sound great outside at Zilker Park.
Could share a bill with: The Civil Wars, Pistol Annies, the Dunwells
Chick talk: While the Dixie Chicks have played a few shows here and there since their last album, 2006’s wonderful “Taking the Long Way Around,” there’s no telling when or if the group might get back together and write new material. For her part, Maines released a solo album, “Mother,” earlier this year.
