What do you do when you’re a touring rock band that shows up to a scheduled Sunday night gig only to find a blocks-long line for Franz Ferdinand? Phoenix horror-punk band Calabrese is making the best of it. “I went ahead and set up our merch table inside,” said Bobby Calabrese, joking that inebriated Franz fans might pick up their album assuming they’re a Franz Ferdinand side project. “Tonight Franz Ferdinand is opening for us,” he said with a smile. The band of three brothers said they just realized the situation when they arrived at Infest. “We drove up, saw this line and were joking, ‘They’re all here for us,’” said Jimmy Calabrese. “We’re trying to take advantage of the sitiation,” Jimmy said, nothing that many in line assumed they were with Franz Ferdinand. “Girls were waving and asking if they could help carry in the instruments and trying to get in with us.” Calabrese goes on tonight at Infest — after Franz Ferdinand.
