Nashville-based singer-songwriter-author Marhall Chapman first played Austin in July 1977 at the old Soap Creek Saloon and she’s been coming back sporadically ever since. Tonight she’ll be singing ongs mainly from her two most recent CDs — Blaze of Glory (2013) and Big Lonesome (2010)- interspersed with a reading or two from her two books. “These days, I don’t plan as much as walk out on stage and sniff the wind,” she said last week in an email. “So I never know. In Winston-Salem last week, I did a rap version of Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales.’” Sure the South Carolina native can be coaxed to play a number or two from her 1978 Epic LP “Jaded Virgin,” which ended up on many yearend top ten lists.

Chapman will play two 45 minute sets, beginning at 8:30. Tickets are $15.
