The SIMS Foundation released the simmering new soul track “I Need You” today.

The track, featuring sultry Austin singer Tameca Jones singing opposite soulful folk rocker Dan Dyer, is cover of a 1973 Temptations hit reimagined as a ballad. The song was produced by local studio wizard Adrian Quesada who also plays guitar. Grupo Fantasma horns are also featured creating a richly textured mix that proudly salutes the Motown tradition that inspired it. The song is available as a $.99 download which benefits the SIMS Foundation, a local non-profit that provides mental health services to musicians.

It’s also a preview for the February 15 concert Heart of the City: A Celebration of Soul a blowout featuring Jones, Dyer, Quesada and the Grupo Horns alongside 70s soul artist Bobby Patterson at the Scottish Rite theater. General admission tickets are available for $50 and the event benefits SIMS.
