In 50 words or less: On the SXSW schedule Paoro is classified as R&B but much like many of her contemporaries she takes a very loose, free form approach to the genre. Her vocals ache with torment as much as straightforward soul and the soundscapes she chooses borrow heavily from dreamy indie rock. According to her official bio, Paoro spent a considerable amount of time in Tibet and her vocal style is heavily influenced by the “acrobatic folk opera” tradition of Lhamo.
