SXSW sets: TBA

About the band: The rap duo of Oktane and Pricetag scored a hit in 2009 with the track and accompanying video “Teach Me How to Jerk” which schooled teenagers around the world on the West Coast hip-hop dance craze Jerkin’. But don’t hold that against them, these dudes twist witty intelligent rhymes better than at least 80 percent of the rappers out there today. They brilliantly answer the haters who brand them as a dance fad band in the above video: “You mean to tell me since we dance our music ain’t bumpin’? ‘Cause please let’s not forget Tupac was onstage Humpty Humpin.’”
Their video “Shine” off the “Come As You Are” mixtape has over half a million hits on YouTube, but the title track posted above is so banging I literally had to listen to it three times in a row. The rappers bust wicked flows, skewering busters and praising their mamas, over the groove from Pharcyde’s “Passing Me By” in a song that also hat tips Kurt Cobain.
