“Jesus Christ Superstar” is coming to Austin, and the cast list reads like a musical Mad Lib.

The Frank Erwin Center will host a stop of the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber rock musical’s tour June 20, according to a press release. Taking the stage as the musical’s familiar Biblical characters: Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd as Judas Iscariot; ‘N Sync member (who isn’t Justin Timberlake) JC Chasez as Pontius Pilate; Destiny’s Child member (who isn’t Beyonce or Kelly Rowland) Michelle Williams as Mary Magdalene; and the head Sex Pistol himself, Johnny Rotten, as King Herod. British singer and actor Ben Forster will portray Jesus.

The North American leg of the show’s tour comes after arena stints in the United Kingdom and Australia. Of all the quotes from this league of extraordinary pop culture figures provided by the release, the soundbite from Rotten (or John Lydon, if you prefer) stands out the most: “I’m here to sing with the King of the Jews, who could ask for anything more?”

For fans of the musical and for the just plain curious, tickets go on sale April 11 at all Texas Box Office outlets, including select H-E-B stores, by phone at 512-477-6060 or 1-800-982-2386, or at TexasBoxOffice.com. For more information, visit the official “Jesus Christ Superstar” website.
