Basecamp just may be Nashville’s answer to James Blake. The Tennessee trio played dark, ghostly R&B to a sparse crowd at the Parish Saturday night.

Slower songs, like the sexy, haunting “Emmanuel,” didn’t do much to get the people moving, but their more up-tempo numbers and a slow-mo cover of Ace of Base’s “All That She Wants” sparked some light footwork and enthusiasm in the crowd.

Serving up sounds for fans of Blake, Banks, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, the band’s live setup included guitar, drum pad, keyboard, and that ubiquitous sidekick to the modern electronic music-maker, the MacBook.
