SXSW Cares fund raises over $160,000

According to a press release from local PR firm Giant Noise, donations to SXSW Cares have topped $160,000.
The fund was set up by South by Southwest, the Mohawk and the Austin Community Foundation to aid victims of the March 13 crash on Red River Street. The total donations includes money collected online at the fund’s Web site sxswcares.com and donations from businesses and community groups.
According to the press release, all funds collected “will be disbursed to those most affected through the Victim Services Division of the Austin Police Department with help from the American Red Cross and the Austin Community Foundation.” Tax deductible donations may be made online at www.sxswcares.com or www.austincf.org.
